PHYSICAL MODALITIES/MACHINES
● Super Inductive System (SIS)
– SIS is utilized in physical therapy to induce muscle contractions through the use of electromagnetic fields. It helps in muscle strengthening, muscle re-education, and pain management.
● High-Intensity Laser Treatment (HILT)
– HILT employs high-intensity laser beams to stimulate tissue repair, reduce inflammation, and alleviate pain. It’s effective in treating various musculoskeletal conditions and accelerating the healing process.
● Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy (ESWT)
– ESWT delivers shock waves to targeted areas of the body to stimulate tissue regeneration, break down calcifications, and promote healing in conditions such as tendonitis, plantar fasciitis, and other soft tissue injuries.
● Electrical Muscular Stimulation (EMS)
– EMS involves the use of electrical impulses to induce muscle contractions. It’s beneficial for muscle strengthening, preventing muscle atrophy, and enhancing circulation. EMS is often used in rehabilitation programs.
● Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS)
– TENS utilizes low-voltage electrical currents to alleviate pain by stimulating sensory nerves. It helps in reducing muscle spasms, managing chronic pain conditions, and improving circulation.
● Infrared Radiation (IRR)
○ IRR emits infrared light to penetrate deep into tissues, promoting relaxation, pain relief, and improved circulation. It’s commonly used for muscle relaxation and enhancing the effectiveness of other therapies.
● Paraffin Wax Bath (PWB)
○ PWB involves immersing body parts in warm paraffin wax to alleviate pain, reduce stiffness, and improve mobility. It’s particularly useful for arthritis, joint stiffness, and conditions involving the hands and feet.
● Targeted Radiofrequency Therapy (TRT)
○ TRT utilizes radiofrequency energy to target and alleviate pain arising from nerves or tissues. It’s effective in treating chronic pain conditions, such as facet joint pain or neuropathic pain syndromes.
● Therapeutic Ultrasound (US)
○ Therapeutic ultrasound utilizes high-frequency sound waves to penetrate tissues, promoting tissue healing, reducing inflammation, and increasing blood flow. It’s commonly used for treating soft tissue injuries, tendonitis, and muscle strains.
